Kanchi Shri Krishna College of Arts and Science was started in the year 1994 by Kanchi Krishna Educational Trust for the promotion of Higher Education in the backward area of Kanchipuram Taluk. Started as Under Graduate College, affiliated to the University of Madras, it has steady growth, and now it stands as Post-Graduate College offering 15 Programmes in UG and 7 Programmes in PG and Three M.Phil,  Two Ph.D. Research Programmes.

The vision and mission of the Institution as enshrined in the Kanchi Krishna Educational Trust is to impart Quality Higher Education, so as to make the ‘New Generation’ face the new challenges of the ever-changing society.

The range of programs offered by the Institution helps to promote not only the social status of the backward area youth but also attain economic status.

 Being a fully Self-financing Institution, it has sufficient infrastructure facilities – classrooms, Furniture, Lab facilities, facilities for Sports, Games, and Transport facilities for the learners. The Master Plan drawn at the time of inception of the College gives a clear picture. Library serves as a gear center of learning. Well-equipped laboratories and Internet facilities help to upgrade the learning process. The maintenance and addition of infrastructure facilities are well monitored by the College Council under the guidance of Management.

All possible steps are taken to maintain student progression and necessary support for their learning process is offered by the Institution. Placement Cell, Career guidance Cell, Grievance redressal Cell, help to student’s community a lot. The tutorial ward system help students to seek counseling from their masters. Special care is taken to offer remedial classes for the advantage of slow learners.

As for as, Governance and leadership are concerned, the Management always strives to keep in mind its objective of promoting quality higher education. The principal as head of the Institution derives due support and direction from the management to steer the Institution on the right path. Necessary care is taken to address the grievances of the employees and students.

As an innovative practice, the Institution always takes a keen interest in maintaining the Internal Quality and Assurance and that value-based education is imparted. The profiles of the students and teaching staff reveal that the Institution is striving for the uplift of the socially, economically backward section of the people. It is satisfactory to note that there is a notable academic growth rate and the number of graduates and Post-Graduates that come out of the Institution with flying colors every year to seek higher studies or Research or better placement get a fruitful reward for the Institution and thus the purpose of establishing the institution is fully realized.

This college provided excellent educational facilities and services rendered to the rural areas.  In addition, NATIONAL ACCREDITATION AND ASSESSMENT COUNCIL (NAAC) an autonomous institution established by the University Grants Commission (UGC), at Bangalore, has accredited this college with ‘B’ grade level which is the first and only college to obtain this status in Kanchipuram Region on 28, March 2008 with Good Quality Education. Our College has Re-Accredited with a ‘B’ grade on 15, Sep 2014.  In the year 2010, our college received ISO certification from the BMQR, Ltd., and also our college was recognized by University Grant Commission, New Delhi under the status of 2(f) in the year 2012.

The Head of the Department of Microbiology Dr.M.Prakash has been taking a lot of efforts to receive funds from various organizations and institutions to conduct the expensive National Seminars on assorted topics, so far he received Rs.4,62,000/-. In the year 2009, the fund Rs.75,000/. had received by our institution to conduct the National seminar on the topic ”National Seminar on Role of rural educational institutions for quality enhancement measures in higher education” from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC) Bangalore. The next year our institution received the amount of Rs.50,000/. from TamilNadu State Council for Science and Technology, Chennai to Conduct the Seminar on the title “Creation of Science Awareness”. In the same year, we received Rs.80,000/. from TamilNadu State Council for Science and Technology, Chennai, and Rs.8000/. from Ministry of Environmental and Forests, New Delhi to conduct the five days Training Programme for secondary grade teachers and National Environmental Awareness Campaign – 2009 Climate Change.

In the years 2012 and 2013 we received the fund Rs.5000/. and Rs.65,000/. from” TamilNadu State Council for Science and Technology, Chennai for the purpose of conducting science awareness program. The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi have given Rs.50,000/. as a fund in 2013 and 2014 to conduct the National Seminar on Recent Advances in Biotechnology and Applied Microbiology. The Ministry of Environmental and Forests have given Rs.10,000/. as a fund to conduct the seminar on National Environmental Awareness Campaign-2011 and the same organization has given the amount Rs.9000/. in the year 2012 to organize the National Environmental Awareness Campaign-2012.

In the year 2014-2015 Department of Tamil received Rs.1,50.000 from the Classical Insititute of Tamil Research Centre, Chennai to conduct a Three Days National Seminar in our College. Thirty Resource Persons have submitted the Research Paper and published the Proceedings in the name “Sanga Illakiya Thonmangalil Pengal” and more than 9 Books have published in the Department of Tamil..
